I’m embarking on a new chapter of my life…recently separated…working on my divorce…it’s time to start anew.
The new journey includes a healthier me, trying new things and a more positive outlook on life. The journey to a healthier me started in March this year when I decided to sign-up for CrossFit. I have always enjoyed being active, soccer, yoga, Zumba, trips to the gym; so this would be a new challenge. I plan to get into more detail in upcoming blogs regarding CrossFit, so I’ll spare you the sales pitch now.
I also embraced a new “diet”. I use that term very loosely because it’s more than a diet, it was a change in the way I eat. At CrossFit, they talked a lot about the Paleo diet and encourage people to try it. I decided it would be another welcome challenge in my life and tried it. I did some research and made modifications to the diet, as I do not agree with everything it outlines. I did cut out the processed foods, grains and dairy…mostly. In June, I did my first month of “strict” modified Paleo with one cheat meal per week. I found myself not missing the things I thought I would miss, like bread. I even made “paleo” bread, which was actually quite good.
At the end of June, I had lost 15lbs, was sleeping better and had way more energy. I decided to adopt it as a lifestyle, but with a more 80/20 approach. Every other month, I do my modified strict with a cheat meal.
Since March I am down almost 50lbs…between hard work and shift in eating habits.
As always, thanks for reading and I’ll be back soon with more fun things to talk about!
Well, it’s been way too long since I’ve ventured into my blog and it’s a shame. I really should spend more time here.
That being said, I’ve been encouraged by a co-worker and friend to start doing this again, but as a food blog. I’m thinking that might be a good idea, but I want to talk about more than that too. I’ve recently started a new journey into CrossFit (don’t laugh) and I’m setting some goals for running. for 2014. I’ll be telling you about them later.
Thanks for listening and reading…more to come!
